Beach Home in Ventnor, NJ

I had the pleasure of shooting this gorgeous beach home for an AirBnB listing. Sometimes an open floor plan can be overwhelming but I think this floor plan is perfect for it's size. I think it works so well here especially with all the natural light coming in from the front windows. I also love the natural and simple decor the homeowners did here for their vacation beach home in Ventnor, NJ. This shoot was a bit different from the typical real estate shoot because it needed to include some more details such as toys for children, beach accessories and other images that wouldn’t be used in a real estate listing.

Twin Home in Collingswood, NJ

The family who own this home in Collingswood were so fantastic! Not only did they have their beautiful room perfectly prepared for the photo session, they also were super accommodating! I just love their style and I know they will make their new home even more beautiful!

Preparing a Home for Real Estate Listing

It is important to hire a professional photographer for your real estate listing because your photos are going to be seen by any number of online consumers and listings with professional photos sell 32% faster and for more than other listings. To ensure that you promote your sale in the best light possible, you will need to plan ahead of time for professional photography. I have provided a list below of tips to help you prepare your clients homes to get ready for a professional real estate photography shoot.

Inside the Home

  1. De-clutter as much as possible. Put away toys, clothing, dishes, towels, shoes etc. It’s a lot cheaper to put these things away before the photo shoot than to pay to have the photos “photoshopped”.

  2. Depersonalized to a certain degree. Photos of young children and any potentially offensive art (believe me, I’ve seen it all!) should be put away.

  3. Remove any seasonal/holiday decorations that can quickly outdate your photos.

  4. Dust and vacuum.

  5. Make all the beds, fluff all the pillows, and check the bed skirts.

  6. Clean the kitchen sink and put away all the dishes.

  7. Clear all kitchen counter tops and put away toasters, can openers, etc.

  8. Clear all bathroom counter tops and put away all personal items.

  9. Remove all shampoos, conditioners, body-washes, etc. from the shower.

  10. Put out the guest towels and hide all the others.

  11. Hide all trash cans.

  12. Remove all magnets and decorations from the refrigerator.

  13. If there are pets, hide all food/water bowls, pet beds, and pet toys.

  14. Put all toilet seats and lids down.

  15. Replace all burned out light bulbs.

  16. Consider decorating the tables with your prettiest place settings.

  17. Consider putting out vases of fresh flowers.

Outside the Home

  1. Have the lawn trimmed, leaves raked, bushes and trees pruned.

  2. Clean up after any animal

  3. Put away all garbage cans, hoses, garden tools, toys, bikes etc.

  4. Hide any “cute” yard decorations.

  5. In snowy climates, shovel snow from walkways, driveways, patios, decks when necessary.

  6. If there is a pool, hot tub, or spa, take any security gate down, uncover, and clean.

  7. If there will be any twilight photos taken, replace any broken lighting on the home, around the landscape, and in the pool.

  8. Open the umbrellas on any patio sets.

  9. When in season, uncover grills.

  10. Remove any seasonal/holiday decorations.

  11. Consider adding splashes of bright colored flowers to the landscape and in pots.

Right Before the Photographer Arrives

  1. Turn OFF all ceiling fans.

  2. Light fireplaces and candles.

  3. Open all blinds, shades, and curtains.

  4. Clear all cars and vehicles from the driveway and the street in front of the home.

  5. Please secure any potentially aggressive animals in a safe location, away from all rooms being photographed.

Don’t forget to have your homeowners place all valuables in a secure location. There will potentially be many people walking through their home and their valuables should be out of site and secure. Safe deposit boxes and wall safes are great for this.

Apartment in Philadelphia, PA

I recently had a client reach out to me who needed an empty one bedroom apartment photographed in Philadelphia. What I loved about it is how much natural light came through the windows!

Victorian Home in Merchantville, NJ

I had the pleasure of shooting this beautiful victorian home that was built in 1906 for a dear friend. This was a bittersweet session for me because the lovely family who I met through my daughter’s school is moving to Boston to be closer to family and are selling this house. I love their home because it has many of the original details from when the house was built such as the wood floors, pocket doors and beautiful trim work throughout but it also has been updated such as the large chef’s kitchen and the master bathroom. And I can’t forget about that designer light in the formal dining room, It’s so unique and different! I could go on and on about this house, but would rather you enjoy the photos! And luckily for them they received multiple offers and went into contract within a few days of the home being listed. I wish them luck on their move.

Ty Corporate Photo Session - January 15th, 2018

My good friend Ty approached me needing some photos taken for his job. He needed a range of photos that were a mix of business professional, business smart casual and athletic. I had such a wonderful time taking his photos, I think it helps that he is a friend! This was the first time I used my new Godox AD200 flash and MagMod Magsphere, which I used on the photos taken indoors. Enjoy!

Black & White Magazine 2019 Single Image Contest Entry

The rush of the holidays are over and I am able to relax (a little bit). I'm finally checking out this magazine I was published in as one of my pictures was selected as a winning submission in the Black & White Magazine 2019 Single Image Contest Children category! It really is such an awesome feeling and honor. The image was shot using my Pentax 645nii medium format film camera, using Kodak 400TX film.

Emily & Family Mini Photo Session

Emily approached me wanting to do a quick photo session while her dad and brother were in town visiting for the holidays. It was a very quick session and I wish we had more time because Emily and her family are just so photogenic! And her and her husband’s two daughters are just too precious. I hope you enjoy looking through their photos!

Holiday Trains at Morris Arboretum

My daughter has been on a train obsession for quite some time. Any chance I get, I take her to see trains and Morris Arboretum is one of those places I take her often to see them. During the holidays, the arboretum decorates the garden railway with so many holiday lights and other decorations. Of course my daughter loved every moment of watching the trains (especially Thomas & friends). I hope you enjoy the photos!

Megan & Family Photo Session

A little over a week ago I had a wonderful time shooting two families. I met Renee through my daughter’s school and I was so excited when she approached me wanting to do a family photo session for their holiday cards. She also recommended her sister Megan to me, who wanted to do a holiday photo session as well. The session was early in the morning and it was very cold outside. While sessions do not always go as planned, it was hard to tell from most of these photos that the little one wanted nothing to do about taking pictures. But when in doubt, always have lollipops on you (a lesson I have taken and will make sure I have at every photo session!). I hope you enjoy looking at photos!

Renee & Family Photo Session

A little over a week ago I had a wonderful time shooting two families. I met Renee through my daughter’s school and I was so excited when she approached me wanting to do a family photo session for their holiday cards. She also recommended her sister to me, who you will see her family’s photo session in the following blog post. The session was super early in the morning and it was quite cold outside, but everyone was awesome, even the kids were troopers! I have too many favorites and I hope you enjoy looking through their photo session.

Matt's Headshots Photo Session

I was recently contacted by the American Staffing Association to take some portrait photographs of one of their contract employee who was a national award winner for a program the agency holds every year. I really enjoyed working with Matt and learning about how he found the job and how much he’s grown in the position. Below are the three images ASA selected to use on their website and in their magazine for when they announce the national winners.
